Battlefield 6 Gamers Agree: Challenges Are Overly Demanding
The launch of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 received broad praise, notably for its flagship multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts reached a high of nearly 750,000. However, regardless of its fanfare, many players are protesting against a portion of the release's hardest challenges, which are necessary to obtain particular firearms.
Gamers have begun turning to tailored sessions created through Battlefield Portal to achieve these objectives, emphasizing just how demanding these missions have become.
Understanding Battlefield 6 Tasks
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, as opposed to the regularly refreshed everyday and weekly missions. The game includes four types of assignments, but while the majority only reward outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of obtaining a dozen out of forty-one primary weapons available in the game.
Some of these locked weapons could shortly find their way on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash on Reddit
On Reddit, players are justifiably sharing their frustrations about how challenging and repetitive several of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This task is so terrible and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a comment that illustrates just how excessively challenging these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many benefits in combat as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
Meanwhile, firing an LMG without aiming is wildly inaccurate and is effective only at very short distances, which isn't typically where you want to be. The same user also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Overly Demanding Challenge
A different forum member highlighted a further incredibly demanding challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to obtain the PSR:
- Secure 150 precision takedowns from more than 200 meters away with long-range weapons
This is challenging enough by itself, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game at present, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and possibly a classic map at a push if you aim to take long-range shots from a significant distance.
The Workaround
There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. The custom game creator is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This allows you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.
Yet, if tackling the tasks in a proper game seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?
Potential Changes
It won't come as a surprise if a number of these missions are made easier in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, some players simply are unlikely to obtain the gated weapons.
At the moment, the community continues to express their views on these strenuous in-game tasks, expecting a more balanced player experience in future updates.
